You may have been directed here by one of our Admins, welcome. All of the M2 servers are 100 tick. This means the server updates your client data 100 time each second. You must play with the appropriate rates. If your rates are too low it makes it very hard to play, both for you and for others. Some even consider this an exploit. If your rate settings are not appropriate, you may be kicked or banned.

To set your rates correctly -

First you must enable the Developer Console. To do this, run CS:S go to

Options->Keyboard->Advanced
Select 'Enable Developer Console (~)'
Click Apply

Now press the tide key (button below Esc and above Tab). This should bring up the console.

Here you can input commands. You will need to use four seperate commands to apply the appropriate
changes. To do so, type the following exactly as it is typed here:

rate 20000 <press enter>

cl_updaterate 100 <press enter>

cl_cmdrate 100 <press enter>

cl_interp 0.1 <press enter>

If your connection is really slow or if you are experiencing high choke or loss, you may want to lower your rate setting by a few thousand and see if it helps.

If you still have trouble - post here and we will try to help. It's very hard to do this in game.

I have my settings at:

rate 30000
cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101

I never knew about cl_interp but I shall check that next time I'm in game.

But this should help the confusion about rates.

Nice work.

Go ahead and move it. Send the link to Boomer. I'm hoping he'll be able to put it into our MOTD so it'll be easy to get to it in game.

MAKE SURE IT'S PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE, ie non-members should be able to see it.

cl_interp doesnt do much anymore I belive. So all your really need is the rate, cmd, and update.

I have my settings at:

rate 30000
cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101

I never knew about cl_interp but I shall check that next time I'm in game.

Ran into a few people today on the GG server that had really low rates, like 750.  Either they didn't understand our instructions on how to change them or they were playing dumb.  I'd really rather not kick/ban somebody over a misunderstanding either so I let it slide and we had to play with people that were lagging up the server.

I was told just last week by BOOMER that it is... because I was asking for it back for this particular reason.
